2011 Myriad Cellars Syrah
Las Madres Vineyard, Carneros, Sonoma Valley

Twenty-elevens late bud break and a mild growing season set the stage for the cool climate syrah vintage of the decade. Yields were brought down to a scant one cluster per shoot delivering amazing results.  Four straight days of dry offshore winds were just what the vintage needed to bring in perfection on our November 4th harvest date.

2011 Myriad Cellars Syrah Las Madres Vineyard Noticeably darker tones than previous vintages, aromas of smoke, tapenade, ripe herbs and hints of iodine are noted on the nose.  The mid palate is where this wine really shines.  Its medium to full bodied structure has incredible depth and purity and flows into a mile long finish combined with perfectly integrated tannins.

True to its cool climate roots, this wine shows that California is capable of producing a wine of such beauty and depth without being heavy handed or over bearing.  A short decant will provide ample integration of the young components and look for it to reach a peak drinking window in 7-10 years.  This is just a gorgeous wine and our vintage of the decade for the Las Madres Vineyard.
