2013 Myriad Cellars Syrah
Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, Napa Valley
Sugarloaf Mountain East is located at the southern end of the Napa Valley right at the valley’s southernmost hillsides. This “on the edge” existence, combined with a site specific sun exposure, allows Sugarloaf Mountain to produce ripe and intense wines full of power, complexity and profound color. Unlike warmer vineyards up-valley, the climate of Sugarloaf naturally provides longer hang-time combined with a southwestern exposure and a rock-laden soil allowing our Myriad Syrah to gloriously thrive.
A grandiose Syrah, the color is deep purple to the rim and is followed by aromatics of white pepper, violets, blackberries and mineral components that soar from the glass. These gorgeous notes are followed by a rich and meaty palate that is concentrated, balanced and feminine-like. The tail end is balanced and structured which allows the wine to flow effortlessly into a finish that has prominent but slight tannins that will need a few years to integrate further. This Syrah is a standout in our portfolio from 2013!
